WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY OBSERVED ON 31ST MAY

World no tobacco day was observed on 31st May across Globe. The first World No tobacco day was marked in the year 1988 with in intention to keep the society smoke free. The day is aimed at creating more awareness on ill effects of tobacco and make the people take pledge to abstain smoking. It was reported by Kate Kelland in Reuters that WHO stated, Tobacco will kill nearly six million people this year (and could kill 8 million a year by 2030), including 600,000 non-smokers, because governments are not doing enough to persuade people to quit or protect others from second-hand smoke.
Tobacco kills up to half its users and is one of the biggest public health threats the world has ever faced, says WHO. It causes lung cancer, which is often fatal, and other chronic respiratory diseases. It is also a major risk factor for cardiovascular diseases
