BEAUTY TREATMENTS IN SALONS SHOULD NOT RESULT IN INJURIES

In the able hands of a trained salon attendant, you could return home relaxed and thankful for the rejuvenating experience of a facial, manicure, pedicure, body massage, hair spa and so on. Do check out with friends and relatives for references before you visit a new parlour and it's best that the lady who does the facial or beauty treatment for you is already recommended to you by someone who has used her services. I personally enjoy my time at a good Salon for facial, hair spa and pedicure. The reason for this post is because I had a terrible experience almost two weeks ago at a reputed Beauty Salon, that left me with a swollen foot, ligament sprain and inflammation under my left foot after a leg massage. I had to visit an Orthopedician  at a private hospital for treatment. During the herbal facial, the attendant used an instrument to remove white heads at the side of my mouth, when I didn't have any white heads there, and the procedure left me bruised at the side of mouth. I am still recovering from both...Sometimes the Owner of a Salon might not be aware whether  the staff is really trained and experienced enough. This is the first time I have experienced something so dreadful at a Salon. Ladies please be really careful which Salon and attendant you go to.  If you experience any burning sensation, roughness, pain  or any sort of discomfort during a certain treatment or procedure at a Salon, don't hesitate to inform your attendant about it.

Let me list some injuries that are common when inexperienced and careless salon workers attend a client :

* Using the instrument for removing blackheads : If used sharply, it can injure your skin on your nose, cheek, chin or sides of your mouth.

* Chemicals used in hair straightening can sometimes be damaging to the hair and scalp, if its not of good quality or the attendant does not follow proper instructions.

* Blow drying, Ironing of hair. If the heat isn't right or done carelessly, hair can get burnt and damaged.

* Facial waxing can cause skin rashes if the face wax is of poor quality or the attendant is not experienced in doing a good job.

* Body waxing if not done correctly can also cause skin injuries and rashes.

* Avoid facial waxing followed by a facial. Do them on separate days to avoid skin rashes.

* Body massaging by an inexperienced attendant, can cause muscle pain,  ligament sprain, or inflammation that can take from one week to 3 weeks to recover. It best to massage for a short while by a trained massage therapist and without much pressure. What hurts will do you no good. There should be no pain or discomfort during massage. Never go for a massage if you already suffer from pain or injury. In that case, consult an orthopedician first.  And never allow a message therapist to massage directly on your spine; just the surrounding areas.

* Make sure that the Manicure and Pedicure instruments have been sterilized before using on  you and the creams and products have to be of good quality and procedures of scrubbing, removing dry skin and massaging should always be a gentle process without inducing any force or pain on the client's hands and feet.

* Chemical peels, microdermabrasion might not be suitable for a person with sensitive skin. Any treatment using chemicals might involve hazards.

* Certain hair restoration oils can do more damage to scalp and hair because not all types of oils may agree with your scalp.
